The best most inexpensive fox, rabbit, coyote, and beaver trap that I know of is a snare. You can make your own or you can buy them already set up. Buy a copy of Fur-Fish and Game magazine there are many ads in there for trapping supplies and most all of them carry snares and components to make snares. There are also plenty of books about various kinds of trapping. I've used snares alot for beaver trapping and they work great! The thing that I really like about them is that they're inexpensive so if you have someone steal it, it's really not that big of a deal. Loose a leg hold trap and that kinda sucks because they're not cheap

I make mine from small gauge (20-24) stainless steel wire. Use a pencil and empty thread spool to make an "eye" and spin the "tails" together using the spool as a bearing of sorts, remove when finished. Thread the tail through the eye and make a small kink when you have a 6" dia loop- this holds the loop open. Place on the rabbit trial about 3 or so inches of the ground and secure the tails to a tree or stake. Some brush can serve to support the loop and hide the wire. These work well and cost almost nothing to produce. Very effective on snowshoe hares in winter.
Heck this takes way longer to type than perform.
Good luck!
