Hi, I have a vintage (early 1950s Japanese) Mark V in 270 Weatherby.   Will a scope mounting system (thinking about the dnz Game Reaper) made for a new Mark V fit my rifle.  Are the receivers and scope mounting holes the same?

Thanks!

All the Mark Vs have the same action, the only difference is the length.  Any two piece will work on any Mark V, if you're going with a one piece you need to get the correct length to match the action.Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

Thanks, I plan to go with one of these if they make one that fits ...

Also, just for reference, Japanese production of the Mark V did not begin until 1970 I believe, so you do not likely have a Japanese production rifle from the 50s.

Do be aware as well that the US-made Mark Vs have a lower rear bridge height than the Japanese and German rifles.  There was, I believe, a translation error in the engineering docs from metric to standard.I believe this is a practical world, and in it I can count only on what I can earn.  Therefore I believe in work, hard work. - The Auburn Creed

I'll post my serial number after work, don't know how I got so confused.  I'd like to know what the twist rate of my barrel is.

Japanese built 270Wby, I'd be willing to bet you have a 1:10 twist.  I don't think they made any other twists in the 270Wby in Japan.  Or in the US for that matter.I believe this is a practical world, and in it I can count only on what I can earn.  Therefore I believe in work, hard work. - The Auburn Creed

Duby's right, a 270 of any flavor will have a 1 in 10 twist. You are gonna like that DNZ.PG

Hi Andrew, you were absolutely right:  My serial number is H149633 which according to  my info it was made by Howa in Japan in 1983.  I ordered the dnz Game Reaper High Mounts and the Zeiss 4.5-14x50mm with Rapid Z 800 reticle.  Can't wait until it all gets in!
