I have as I told some of you been shooting a 2506  rem 700 bdl for many years. Has been my fav. cal. for deer. I had the good future of getting a vangaurd in 3006 for my birthday 2 seasons ago. Must say I fell in love with the triger on this new rifle. Have killed 9 deer in tx and 1 in Mo. with this new rifle. It is sweet. I have to tell you I miss my 2506. I have been saving for a new rifle and it will be a 2506 in vangaurd. I have 280.00 now need 120 more. My question to any of you out there is this
Can I adjust the triger on the vangaurd as I can on the 700 rem?HHarlan224

Harlan:You will probably have to take it to a gunsmith as I did.$30 or so,with the new S2 you might not need to get anything done to it though.Roger

You can adjust the trigger on the (orginal) Vanguard rifles. The users manual shows which screw you can ajdust, and which one you can't. Some of the orignal series Vanguards had great triggers. Others had triggers that needed attention.

The S2 Vanguard rifles have a two-stage trigger. It is much better than the trigger on the "old" Vanguard. I doubt you would need to adjust the S2 trigger, but you might want to. The manual for it has directions on how to do it (p. 15).

Some riflemen don't like the two-stage trigger on the S2 and replace it with a Timney trigger, but that's a choice we can all make. Good luck.Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

I love the triger on the 3006 out of 3 rifles in the vangaurd it was the lightest and I have not ajusted it, dont think I could get it shooting any better. This is out of the box. There is a 2506 in vangaurd  I checked out the other day and the triger just wasent what the 3006 is. There was only one 2506 in vangaurd so I had no other rifle to compare to. Iam of course not interested in any other cal. or man.other than Weatherby. I would have to drive an hour and a hafe to compare the rifle to another 2506. The salesman said they wont get another until they sale this one. If you guys are interested its at Acadmy in Houma ,Louisiana  LOL.HHarlan224

I have a vanguard s2 in 25-06 and I love this gun. The triggers on the s2 are a lot better in my opinion.Scott

This would be the most obvious way to tell! Does your rifle look like this rifle?http://www.weatherby.com/support/faq/latest/items

Pg 7,

But unless you know how to do this procedure properly I would suggest getting a qualified smith to do it for you unless you know how to take the action from the stock and do it properly! FYI the manual does not go into action removal in depth enough to do it properly ! The use of blue thread locker is not mentioned and it is a must use step! I suggest you read the Owners manual and if not comfortable with process find someone to do it for you as it can be a serious issue if not done properly! it is not that hard but it needs to be done correctly!  Grin

Really not that hard a job if you have all the tools and knowledge ! Items needed listed below!
Inch Lb Torque wrench and gunsmith screwdriver set
Blue thread locker
Owners Manual should be read front to back!
Trigger Pull Gauge and instructions for it's use!
Some folk just get a smith to do this but who is to say they are doing it properly! that is why I do my own as I am comfortable in doing it as I am a retired Aircraft Mechanic! I have had bad smith's do terrible work and I have had to fix their mistakes but that can be a2 way street!http://www.weatherby.com/support/faq/latest/items
