Hello I really need a semiautomatic or lever action
rifle for wild boar and coyote. Does anyone know a cheaper brand rifle. I am looking for an AR-15 like rifle, not a very low caliber rifle like a .223. Something that I can mount a scope or red dot sight on. Also i live in California which has a lot of laws. Thank you so much

My Green Blaster for HogsBronson:You might consider an SKS.Probably the cheapest way to go and lots of ammo out there for plinking.A really fun gun for the money. Not the most accurate but plenty good for what it sounds like you are looking for.Roger
Faster horses,younger women,older whiskey,and more money.

Depends how big the boars are I guess. Â pbrktrt is talking the Mini-30 in 7.62x39, same caliber as an AK. Â You may also check out a saiga, as they can be had in many calibers including 308 (7.62x51). Â If you want a lever, you can pick up a used marlin 336 typically for 400 bucks in 30-30. Â Put a scope on it with some hornady Leverevolution bullets and you can be quite deadly out to 250 yards. Â Just depends on what you are going to use it for specifically, including ranges, velocity, meat damage, pelt damage, etc.
I agree the AR-15's are a bit out of reach for many people, especially if you are looking for a larger than 223 offering.
Try www.armslist.com for local listings in your area. Â There is an M1 Carbine in LA for 650 bucks. Â That is a 30 cal AUTO.
There is also an older Marlin model 30 on there for 300 bucks. Â That is a 30-30. Â Plus there is a choice between private sales and dealers on there so you can pick whether you want to register or not.

Ca has some weird laws that I'm absolutely not up on, that's something you would have to verify with a local dealer. I would almost bet they have a magazine restriction for hunting ? Might look at used remington 7400 or 750, possibly a browning bar or blr although a little pricy might find a good used one.
