Took my 5 year old out this weekend for his first time shooting.  Well, actually I set up the rifle and made sure it was pointed at the target (which was only 5 yards in front of the muzzle); he confirmed that it was still pointed at the target and then pulled the trigger.  But it was a great milestone for him (and me).

BTW, we usually use "eyes and ears" on anything larger than a rimfire.

No ears with a rimfire is the reason my ears ring all the time and I can't hear over about 9KHz. When your young it goes up to about 20K. It adds up even the rimfires. Now I did shoot a lot when I was a kid. My fondest memories are me and my Grandfather with a single shot .22 and a target out behind the old barn when I was about 7 or 8.  My kids all shoot and or hunt too and maybe I'll have another reloader or two some day. Enjoy!

chaplainkramer,
You have a fine looking son, and I know that one day you and him will be able to enjoy hunting and the memories for ever. If more people would take the time to spend with their children as you have, they would not have the problems many have to face each day. My father had a saying that has stuck with me all my life: "If you take your kids hunting with you when they are young, you won't have to hunt for them when they grow up!"  Excellent job of parenting!!  Keep up the good work!

The times I spent teaching my son to shoot was some of the proudest times in my life. We had some wonderful times together. Congratulations to you!I will believe corporations are people when Texas executes one.
