Now THIS is a REAL Weatherby rifle, and my suggestion for the rifle of the century award!

A real bargain at $8,800 . . . I think.

Is that a Mauser action? "A strong body makes the mind strong.  As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun . . . it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind.  Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks."

That is the most gaudy looking rifle I have ever seen. Somebody with too much money and no taste. Big game rifle for a " gangsta " I bet it shoots good though.

Certainly not to my taste.  Still, the look of the rifle along with it's history should make it interesting to a collector.  If you dared to take it to the range I'm sure it would be a fantastic conversation starter, too... WinkNJL

I'm not sure if I like it or not.  On one hand it's museum quality that has some very unique features, look at the floor plate latch, trigger, I love the wood , but don't know what it is ?  On the other hand I wouldn't be caught dead out in the sticks using it, doesn't look like he used it much either.   Elegant is one thing  this is over the top for a rifle designed to be used.  It needs to be show cased somewhere for the public to see.   You show up to the range with that rifle you better be looking in the rear view mirror to see if any gangsta is following.  Then you can whip out your matched set of Ivory gripped Caspian framed high cap engraved gold plated  45 autos and ventilate  the crap out of them if they tried to steal it.  In good taste you really need to be using only your gold plated fragmenting bismuth bullets to get the job done right.  Just kidding.   Ron

Elvis had one just like it. Could kill a TV at 1000 yards while eating a fried nanna and peanutbutter sammy.

I was looking at some back posts that i missed and saw this one. I had to comment. I am sorry to hear this rifle belonged to one of wbys founders because i have to agree with the gaudy remark. It is. However it does remind me of the Sauer Takedown by meisterwerk. Several examples are in the link below if it worked right. Sauer is more tastfully done.

This just reminded me of something my grandfather used to say "a rifle should not be TOO pretty , they are not meant to do pretty thins" nice gun but WAY to flashy for me There is a fine line between Hunting and walking around looking stupid.

It is gaudy and flashy and certainly not a field piece, but it is also a great historical piece. It is also a work of art and extreme craftsmanship worthy of a special place in the finest museum.

It is not too pretty for me. To own such a rifle would be to own a masterpiece.

The Sauer Takedown is another work of art. I am truly awed by such craftsmanship!I will believe corporations are people when Texas executes one.
