Why do you love the .270Wby unlike your father who loves the .257Wby? Can you tell us what was your father view's on this caliber as well as yours?

That's a good question and one I'm sure Ed will enjoy answering!  The .300Wby is definitely the most popular offering but both Roy and Ed preferred something smaller.

Regardless, in honor of Roy Weatherby, I own a .257.  In honor of Ed Weatherby, I own a .270   Grin GrinJerry

Actually my favorite caliber depends on what I am hunting.  I feel the .270 WM is a good all around caliber for mid size game giving a little more reach and punch than the .257 and is a little more pleasant to shoot than the .300WM.  I have found in more recent years though that I have enjoyed shooting the .257 WM for deer size animals and moving to the .300 WM for larger game.  So have I done a good job of confusing you?  I guess what I am trying to say is my favorite depends on what I am hunting.  I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.  Of course I am a bit biased.

E W,
No, you didn't confuse me at all. It totally understandable picking the caliber depends on  what you are hunting. As I understand it you like the .257 WM for deer size and larger caliber for bigger game. You said that you are a bit biased. Which size do you lend to as your to go rifle? While it is said that the .257 WM is the all around rifle because it can kill wolf up to elk size game.
Thank you for your input.
