I pulled the proverbial trigger on this today.  I ordered a Vaquero in 45 Colt.  Anyone have any thoughts on them.

Whats up with the Gun Companies Ideas?

(7 posts)

I don't mean to be sarcastic or rude, but really when firearms companies come up with these ideas of strange things to put on their guns, where do they get these ideas. Well I know where they don't get them and thats from the general puplic or Customers at hand thats for sure!!!, I'll start with these few items.

I think Roger got this one right, they want to be different or as far as plastic stocks go, it's a way to save on costs so they can offer a product people can afford. I would also add that two-stage triggers are probably to get around legal barriers. They offer a safer way to get a clean, crisp break, at a pull weight that is acceptable. I wou...

A friend has one  It shot ok could never get the barrels to regulate to each other very well.     I wouldn't mind having one if the price was right.

378 lazermark

(12 posts)

I picked up that lefty 378 5-panel Lazermark this morning.  Unfortunately, it is not "new" but "like new".  There is a pencil eraser sized ding in the stock, and a scope has obviously been mounted on it.  One or two very minor nagging imperfections but an otherwise gorgeous rifle.  Based on what I see other 3...

Back Country 30-06 Hand Loads

(2 posts)

So...new Back Country on it's way. After break-in I want to develop that perfect load using both 165 and 180 grain bullets. Any recipes anyone would like to share?

I can't speak to 180's in a -06, as I only use 165/168gr bullets in mine.  Get some H4350 and start around 54gr.  Work up to 59gr watching for pressure signs.  Several -06's have found a sweet load in this load workup.  I'd bet you find a good load in it, too.

Why the increase in accuracy guarantee with the VG2?

(2 posts)

My .308 VG1 is a normal rifle (not marketed as sub-MOA), and shoots sub-MOA with my hand loads. I shot enough factory stuff through it that I should know if it was sub-MOA with factory loads...but don't remember.

My kids .308 Howa is sub-MOA (I think more accurate than mine) with my hand loads...again, don't know if it was with...

I don't reallly care as long as they shoot how they do. .Most S1 would do it as you stated .Nice to have the guarantee though don't you think?

PA-459 slide differences

(7 posts)

Hello,
I recently purchased a PA-459 TR. Prior to ordering all of the pictures I saw had a rail mounted on the bottom of the slide. My shotgun came without the rail.
Anyone know the reason why?

This page shows many images with the rail...

The rail we are talking about is the "integrated" rail, not the add-on mag tube rail. Look at the pictures carefully. I have also bought a Weatherby PA-459 TR, and if mine comes without the integrated rail, I will be returning it back to the vendor. Why are there 2 versions, and why has Weatherby not addressed this to us already after OP ...

Update: Range time with the new 6,5

(7 posts)

Took the new 6.5x284 Savage to the range yesterday.Started off with Nosler custom 130 gr, factory loads.  Very impressive for factory loads.   First 3 shots at 100 yds. measured .67.  I figured it was gonna be hard to beat with hand loads, and it was.  I loaded some Berger 130 VLD's with 49.5 grs. of H4831sc and some w...
